First off, this is a nice set of speakers (and it just a set of speakers that require a receiver to power them). They sound good, they look great, they’re very well made, and they aren’t badly priced at (as I write this) $800 for five speakers and a sub. This is a nice set for someone who already has a receiver that they like and wants pretty small speakers. One key to that is – wanting small speakers. These are pretty darn small, so you do give up some audio capability with that. If you’re moving up from TV speakers, though, have no doubt that these should blow you away. Even compared to my 11.2 system comprised of NHT speakers and SVS subwoofers, this set sounds good. No, it’s not as good as my regular system, but it also doesn’t cost anywhere near as much, and it’s a lot more compact. If I were still in an apartment, I would love to have a system like this…but my neighbors wouldn’t appreciate it. :D It can get pretty loud.I’m giving them four stars because I really like how they sound, with a slight caveat that my impression is in part due to their size, meaning that I’m giving them extra points for sounding this good at this small size.
